Origins:
Bakermoon Records was founded by the brothers Bakermoon in late winter of 2010 when ice formed on the old transistor radio, freezing the dial on the low frequencies of Irkutsk’s Man of the Hour Raydio Session (50kHz), where long-time strongman and local hit-maker Vold Lipavsky was holding it down for the residents of Greater Oblast (population: 587,225).
The longwave guru was knee-deep in his 60 minute showcase (shestnadsit minoot po musikoy), breaking future luminaries to his faithful congregation of ‘Irks’ and local tastemakers, when the brothers Bakermoon had what could be termed a sudden, intuitive perception of, or insight into, the reality or essential meaning of something: in this instance, soundwaves. As later observed, it was “a frozen moment when everyone sees what is at the end of the fork.”
As the sun rose over a crisp horizon many miles from the Siberian transmitter, the ice on the dial began to melt away, two cups of tea were brewed, and a record label was born.
